2.12.0 Release Highlights
- With this release, the Administration information has been added to this guide so that users have all Access information in one guide. Updated documentation available here.
- For video assets, more information has been added to the Asset Info tab for faster access to important information. This includes all the detail about an Asset's underlying content (Source, Mezzanine, Proxy, etc).
- Administrators can manage watch folders through the user interface. Additionally, Reach Engine will automatically migrate existing watch folders. With this update, Reach Engine does not need to be restarted when adding new watch folders or modifying existing.
- Administrators can create new and modify scheduled workflows through the user interface. Context data can be assigned to scheduled workflows using the +Data Def fields. Reach Engine will automatically migrate existing scheduled workflows. With this update, Reach Engine does not need to be restarted when adding new schedules or modifying existing schedules.
- Administrators can configure Workflow Qualifier Expressions directly in the UI instead of in workflow XML, decreasing the time and complexity to adjust a Workflow's rules.
- Administrators can manage metadata fields in the Spartan UI.

| Title | Release Notes |
| Change column names on Metadata Fields admin page | Column names on the Metadata Fields page are more informative for their purpose. Specifically, tuning metadata fields for relevance is now indicated by the "Boost" and "Boost Priority" columns. These values indicate how much to weight any field for its relevance when doing a Basic search in Reach Engine. |
| Add sorting on metadata field type in admin page | In the new Metadata Admin page it is now possible to sort on a metadata field type |
| Add search boosting slider to metadafields admin | It's now possible to directly change the boosted field search relevance directly on the Metadata Admin page. |
| Add Okta (oauth) Support | A properly configured Reach Engine system will now show an OKTA login modal. Local logins can still be used by clicking the text "SIGN INTO SYSTEM ACCOUNT" at the bottom of the modal. Doing so will change the login screen to the native Reach Engine username and password combination. |
| Metadata Fields Admin Page | If you're a Reach Engine Administrator you now have an improved Metadata Field experience in the updated UI. In the 2.12.0 version of Reach Engine you can Manage all field types except pick list values. The metadata fields page is similar to the other improved admin pages with features like pagination, column sorting, basic search, in-column editing of toggles, and a non intrusive right curtain for easy editing. |
| [REACH-34121] Spartan: Set Thumbnail (Videos) | The Spartan UI now has the ability to set custom video thumbnails. |
| [REACH-31628] Create/Edit Metadata Non Picklist Field Types | Use the "+" button on the Metadata Fields admin page to create and edit metadata fields: |
| [REACH-31624] Admin: Archive Metadata Fields | Metadata fields can be archived. When a field is archived, it is no longer shown to any users in the UI but assets with values set on the field are not removed. In other words, previous values of that metadata field are not deleted but rather it is not possible to update or add new values of that field to any assets. Fields can be archived using the toggle in the "Archived" column Or with the Archive icon in the top left of the Metadata Field management page Selecting either will present a confirmation modal so that fields aren't archived accidentally |
| Provide a way to view workflow step queues | Navigate to /alpha/#/workflow/workflow-step-queues to view the global workflow step that are configured and any activity within them. |
| Subject qualifier Expression text field in the edit workflow modal | Subject qualifier Expression text field shows up in the edit workflow modal only if subjectDOClassName is not empty in the workflow. Subject qualifier Expression text field does not show up in the edit workflow modal if subjectDOClassName is empty in the workflow. |
| Support display and modification of SubjectQualifierExpression in Workflow edit modal |
The edit workflow modal includes a new field that displays and allows modification of a workflows "Subject Qualifier Expression". A Subject Qualifier further refines the attributes on an asset that must be true for the workflow to be displayed to an end user. Subject Qualifiers are written in Spring Expression Language (SPeL) In this example, this workflow will only be displayed to users if they have an asset with the name of The_Drinkers.jpeg. Important Note: Subject Qualifiers are only evaluated when the workflow has a specified subjectDOClassName value in the header. A value like "AssetMaster" for example. |
| Enable default Metadata Form selection in Spartan |
A Metadata form configured in a custom workflow to display in a user input modal will now automatically render the metadata form. The format for specifying a default metadata form in a workflow is as follows: <contextDataDef name="singleMetadataForm" dataType="MetadataForm" label="Metadata Form" userInput="true" defaultDataExpression="{'metadataFormId': 200}"/> Known Issue: A workflow can be executed without all required metadata fields being input. This validation requires the resolution of #87580 |
| Add support for Context Data to Workflow Schedules right Curtain | Scheduled workflows can now be assigned context data to workflow schedule configurations to add optional name/value pairs to any execution. Use this to pass a required value to a scheduled execution or to override a default value. |
| Right Curtain for Watch Folder Config | Use the right curtain on the Watch Folders admin page to configure any aspect of a Workflow Watch Folder. Any new Watch Folders created or existing Watch Folders that are Edited will be updated immediately and Reach Engine will not need to be restarted as was the case in previous versions. |
| Support update of subjectQualifierExpression outside of workflow import | If AdminOverrideFlags are set on a workflow, re-import of the workflow will not update any existing subjectQualifierExpression re-import of a workflow with AdminOverrideFlags=false will replace any existing subjectQualifierExpression with the value from the workflow file |
| Allow for Config changes to be reflected at Runtime | No restarts are required for changes to Watch Folders. All changes are reflected at runtime. |
| Content+Special Video Fields should be visible in Video Curtain | The Asset Info Curtain has been significantly updated to surface more information for Video Assets. At a glance you can now view detailed information for a Video's underlying content. Instead of double clicking on an asset you can simply scroll up and down on the video curtain to view technical details on the Video Asset's Source, Mezzanine, Edit Proxy, Proxy, Thumbnail Video, Thumbnail Image, Live Event. |
